Carl "Corky" Smith, Jr.

Carl J. (Corky) Smith, age 66, passed away at his home on August 16, 2017.

He was born November 16, 1950, to Eva (Johnson) and Carl Smith Sr. in Brainerd, MN. He married Colleen Creger on October 2, 1970, in Nisswa, MN.

Proceeded in death by his parents; and his brother, Bruce.

Corky will be deeply missed by his wife, Colleen; son, Paul (Bernadette) of Nisswa; daughter, Sarah (Josh) Decker of Nisswa; grandchildren, Isabelle, Noah, Landon, Mason, Griffin, and Tyson; brother, Larry (Gail) of Cross Lake; sister, Barbara Carthers of Mpls.

Corky worked in construction all of his life and owned Car-Col Construction, Creger's Ojibwa Campground, and Hwy 1 Sod. He enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, woodworking, cooking, and stained glass. He enjoyed being with his family and friends and was especially proud of his grandchildren.

A celebration of Corky's life will be held from 1:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, August 27, 2017, at the Halvorson Johnson Funeral Home, BAXTER CHAPEL 7761 Excelsior Road with a time of remembrance at 4:00 pm.
